Wedding in Trun & Siat, Graubünden
A Romantic Wedding Reportage with an Outdoor Ceremony
Wedding Locations in the Surselva, Graubünden
J&S got married in their home villages of Trun and Siat — two beautiful places in the middle Surselva, surrounded by nature, mountain meadows, and the impressive alpine landscape of Graubünden.
The day began with a civil ceremony in Trun in the presence of their closest family members. Afterwards, we traveled to Siat, where the outdoor ceremony took place and friends and relatives joined the celebration.
It truly felt like a fairytale: bright sunshine, a deep blue sky, lush green mountain meadows (thanks to the rainy summer), and clear air with wide views across the alpine panorama. A perfect day for a wedding reportage in Graubünden.
Preparations in Siat
The couple got ready in different rooms of the bride’s parents’ house — full of anticipation and visibly nervous about this special day. For me as a wedding photographer, this intimate part of the day is always something very special.
Couple’s Portrait Session in Siat
Right afterwards, we moved to the forest above Siat for the couple’s shoot — a magical place that feels straight out of a fairytale. The moss-covered forest floor, tall fir trees, and the light filtering through the branches created beautiful patterns and a truly unique atmosphere.
We visited their personal favorite spot in the forest, and you could feel how meaningful this place was to them. The combination of mountain panorama and forest scenery added great variety to the portrait session.
Their dog — their loyal four-legged companion — was also by their side throughout the day.
Outdoor Ceremony on the Mountain Meadow in Siat
For me, the highlight of this wedding was the outdoor ceremony on an open mountain meadow above Siat. The floral arch under which the couple stood, the musical accompaniment by the bride’s brother, and the heartfelt contributions from parents and siblings — it was a mountain wedding in Graubünden just as you would imagine it.
Thank you, J&S, for allowing me to accompany your beautiful day.
Wishing you only the very best and so much love on your journey together. You are a dream couple.
Would you like me to capture your wedding as well?

I always scout locations in advance to check the sun position, light, and atmosphere depending on the time of day.
Yes, absolutely. The region is perfect for outdoor ceremonies — whether on a mountain meadow like in Siat, on a scenic hill above Trun, or near an alpine hut. The natural surroundings create the perfect backdrop for a personal and emotional ceremony. A weather backup plan is always recommended.
Yes. One of the most beautiful civil ceremony venues is Cuort Ligia Grischa in Trun with its historic coat-of-arms hall. Other municipal halls and registry offices in the region also offer charming settings with strong local character.
Summer: warm temperatures, blooming meadows, soft light
Autumn: golden colors, crisp air, perfect photography conditions
Spring: fresh greenery, often snow still visible on the peaks
Winter: romantic snowy landscapes, especially in higher areas such as Falera or Brigels
Every season can be magical — it all depends on the feeling the couple wants for their wedding day.
Yes, very gladly. I photograph weddings throughout the entire Surselva — in Trun, Siat, Ilanz, Falera, Ruschein, Sagogn, Disentis/Mustér, Sedrun, and many other villages. Upon request, I also document weddings outside of Graubünden, elsewhere in Switzerland, or abroad.
